the post-college shake up I didn’t know I needed
design to plants —
I graduated from college in the midst of the pandemic and moved back home to live with my parents in rural Montana for over a year. During that time - for something to do - I worked for family friends at a local greenhouse, propagating and selling plants all spring and summer.
Meanwhile, friends start scheming about moving out west to Portland, Oregon. Have I been there? Briefly. Do I have a job lined up? No. Know people? Two! Time to join in, pack up the car, and move.
Spoiler: A few months in, I got a job at Portland Nursery and I’m still there slinging plants and hanging out with really cool coworkers. I’ve met some of the best friends I could have ever asked for, explored a good chunk of Oregon, and haven’t “used” my degree since. 10/10 move.
river dippin’ —
Welcome to Oregon, land of rivers perfect for summer river dips. Coming from the wilder and chillier waters of Montana, it has been so much fun to explore these lazier waters.
A new addition to river life: a boat! A little glorified dinghy, purchased with two friends and already been put to good use cruising around and catching crabs out on the coast.
sharing meals —
Quite possibly my favorite activity to do with friends. I’ve shared wonderful, hours-long meals that go late into the night and quickly shoved food in our mouths while standing around. Eating with friends just can’t be beat, and I love cooking for the people I love.
Let’s bring a birthday cake to the bar.
Let’s have a weekly dinner and watch our favorite TV show. (It’s Survivor)
